The BOLD Story Of Beyond The Pews For Life Africa
Beyond The Pews for Life Africa (BTPLA) initially started as a dream from many people around the world after news of Hundreds of dumped foetus being found, especially in slums and middle-class estates. The unknown number of bodies had been badly mutilated by dogs which had been feeding on them. Sometimes street family, orphans and vulnerable children would confuse them with feeding meat and would go feed on them. So bad was the experience.
Our History
Another concern came in, in the early 2010s, Marcus and Lilian lost several members of their extended family in Kenya to aids. This family tragedy opened their eyes to the struggles of AIDS orphans. Children as young as eight helped care for their dying parents and younger siblings. Grandparents were being forced to become parents again to take care of their grandchildren. There was no denying that this disease would change their village forever. This continued to happen day in out, Marcus and Lilian together wondered what they could do to help these underprivileged kids. Is this also part of the great commission? They wondered, as the Spirit of God led Marcus to the scripture according to James 1:27 saying, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” This Scripture summed it all and were fully persuaded that this is the direction the LORD wanted them to lead. Our lifestyle should be that of Loving and Helping others – 1 John 3:18 states “Our love should not be only words and talk. No, our love must be real. We must show our love by the things we do”

Marcus and Lilian faced another burdening dilemma. Should they continue confidently serving God as pastors in the pulpit and winning souls for Christ, reaching hundreds of Busia town and its environment at the auditorium the church had leased for worship services; or confront the common troubling reality of merciless abortions, HIV and AIDS they were witnessing first hand and the children left behind in its wake?
As this was happening, Marcus was reading the book, “Get Out of the Boat”, about the parable of Peter stepping out of the boat by faith to walk on the water toward Jesus. It was here that they dreamed of being the church of Jesus Christ beyond the doors of the church transforming lives of orphaned and vulnerable children in extreme poverty; providing them with a loving home, food, quality education and some much-needed medical care.
Our History
They had many years of effective service and were comfortable and fruitful with the pulpit ministry, yet they felt the call to get out BEYOND the boat they knew, to launch a ministry that focused on Rescuing UNBORN from merciless abortions as well as HIV and AIDS affected children and families. In answer to that call Marcus enrolled for online social work study, but kept the dream alive of one day building a home aka Rescue CarePoint. After further discussions with Lilian, they decided to contact Angela King MI, USA a dear family friend whom they had befriended during her first visit to Kenya volunteering at a children home. When sharing what God laid in their heart concerning orphans and vulnerable children all she said was that it was also a dream of her own and would help out in any way possible. They formed a board of directors jointly with Angela King from MI USA and with that the ball started rolling with the dream of BTPLA with a vision to be the church of Jesus Christ beyond the doors of the church transforming lives of orphaned and vulnerable children in extreme poverty. The three later on joined hands with likeminded to establish Ministry Rescue CarePoint for the same purpose.
Our History
BTPLA
Beyond the Pews for Life Africa is a non-profit Christian organization who are prolife whose objective is to plead for the lives of unborn children, uphold the sanctity of life from conception to natural death formed to create an abortion free society.as well as to reduce the suffering caused by the AIDS epidemic in Kenya and Africa in fulfilment of God’s Word in James 1:27 read together with 2 Corinthians 8:13–152 Corinthians 8:13–15.
BTPLA seeks to educate, unite, and mobilize people of goodwill to end abortion and restore respect for every human life from conception until natural death and also establish Ministry Rescue CarePoints for women or girls in crisis pregnancy. The Ministry Rescue CarePoint is at the heart of our project as it will serve as temporary sanctuary for the abandoned children and girls who are provided with antenatal care, counselling, and entrepreneurial training until the crisis has passed and the women or girls are back on their feet. As well as host abandoned children.
Our History
BTPLA seeks to meet the spiritual and physical needs of AIDS orphans through a sponsorship program involving over 1500 children. Most of the children live with their grandparents, some with other relatives and a few with neighbors.
BTPLA provides compassionate, Christ-centered care, which equips children to live in a family unit. We will use a comprehensive model that focuses on meeting educational, physical, social, spiritual and emotional needs to ensure that we are effectively battling the cycle of AIDS and poverty. We have the opportunity to help raise up a new generation of Cyclebreakers by educating Kenyan child and investing in their community’s one village at a time.
We aim to not only save the life of the preborn baby, but to change the life of each mother who choses life to abortion. Through our comprehensive approach, we provide solutions for the challenges she’s facing, and resources to help her take her next step towards her personal goals.
BTPLA believes that children should be loved, nurtured, educated, and protected in a home environment even the preborn ones. Only $40 a month provides a child with food, clothing, education, and health care.
Founded and directed by Rev Marcus and Mrs Pst. Lilian Oor together with Angela King, Beyond the Pews for Life Africa is invested in reducing extreme poverty through a variety of socio-economic programs designed to provide new economic alternatives for people facing extreme poverty through formal groups that are organized as Community Based Organization (CBO) models. Examples include greenhouse farming, tailoring, grain milling, poultry raising, carwash services, outside catering services and more.
To this end Beyond the Pews for Life Africa seeks to establish Ministry Rescue CarePoint for women and girls in crisis pregnancy. Currently, we work with other institutions and tap on their capabilities in running half way houses for battered women and children and pregnant women needing shelter and likewise facilitates in certain instances the adoption of babies of women who opted out of the abortion option. Which is very costly in the long run.
Ministry Rescue CarePoints
Caring for the AIDS-affected child means far more than just providing a warm meal, school books, or just telling a child that, “Jesus loves you.” Instead, it means considering each aspect of a child’s developmental needs: educational, physical, spiritual and emotional, and then providing solutions to address those problems.
Through BTPLA’s Ministry Rescue CarePoints we will provide the life changing care, message of hope and continuous community support required to meet these needs!
